FEI jumping qualifier for Children in Sharjah
Abu Dhabi to host finals in December

The UAE will be hosting The FEI Children's International Jumping Final this year in December with Abu Dhabi playing the host.

The qualifying round for this will be held at the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing club on May 1 and 2, 2009. The two-day event will feature competitions for Category A and B riders who are aged between 12 and 14 years only. As many as 17 UAE jumpers are in the fray in a total of 33 participants for the Sharjah competitions.

FEI children's qualifiers are held once every year in different countries and according to the FEI rules, competitions must be organsied at outdoor events between January 1 and October 1, each year. As many as 32 jumpers from different parts of the world will be selected for the finals based on their rankings and the host country has the advantage of fielding 16 jumpers.

Apart from the UAE, show jumpers from Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Palestine, Libya, USA, Canada, UK and Germany, will be seen in action at the weekend show in Sharjah.

The UAE jumpers include Sheikh Saif Ali Sultan Al Khatri, Sheikh Hani Suhail Al Maktoum, Sheikha Maryam Fahim Al Qassimi, Ahmed Khamis Al Saadi, Ahmed Salah Ameen Al Shurafa, Mohammed Saleh Al Yafi, Rashed Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Afra Abdul Aziz Al Badawawi, Maryam Ahmed Hassani, Ahmad Salem Al Kendi, Arhama Saif Sultan Al Awani, Ayesha Ali Al Shamsi, Hamad Khalifa M. Al Ghufli, Mohammed Ahmed Rashid Al Hosani, Rashid Abdullah Abdel Aziz Al Shamsi, Rashid Abdullah Al Naboodah and Sultan Ahmed Saleh Al Tabali.

The qualifying rounds will begin at the club premises at 4 pm on both the days featuring jumpers from Category A and B. The first day will feature two competitions each in One Round Against the Clock and One Round Not Against the Clock and the second day will feature the Finals.

Also part of the two-day event will be the regular weekend competitions featuring riders from categories including A, B, and Open Class with Dh 21,000 earmarked for the prize money.

Officials for both the events include Ms Lisa Hareb (Jury President), Atef Shawky ( NF Representative and Course designer), Khalil Ibrahim, Aziz Haroun and Hassan Mousa (Judges) and Ali Mohajer ( NF Steward).
