UAE showjumpers excel in Germany

Aachen, Germany: The UAE team advanced to the final stage of the Aachen Amateur Showjumping Grand Prix on Saturday.

The UAE's top performer was Ahmad Amin. Riding Kurtysse Ameen stole the limelight to finish first in the Werbeagentur Peter Heinrich Der after clocking 54:49 seconds over fences set at 1.30metres.

Adel Khamis aboard Kathy Disigny clocked 57:47 seconds to take third place, as Majid Sultan Al Awani astride Katharina De Mai advanced to the final stage despite finishing ninth in 63:77 seconds.

Ameen continued to impress on the second day of the competition after winning the Per De Hotel Klokinzbitz in the Silver Tour Championship over 1.30metres. Amin clocked 51:64 seconds to claim the first place.

UAE amateur lady rider Alia Humaid onboard Avantus finished third in 55:96 seconds. Behind her came Adel Khamis Ali Saeed astride Kathyeisigny in 56:37 seconds. Majid Sultan was fifth after clocking 57:96 seconds. Abdul Rahman Al Habsi finished eighth in 59:88 seconds.

In the Golden Amateur competition, Omer Thabit onboard Mexico clocked 76:04 over fences set at 1.40metres and advanced to the second stage.

In the senior competition, Hamad Al Karbi clocked 65:52 seconds over 1.35metre fences and finished ninth out of 18 starters.

Brilliant Dutch rider Grave Willem claimed the Abu Dhabi Hydra International Grand Tour and qualified for the Grand Prix.

Hydra Properties' Dr Suliman Al Fahim praised the UAE team's performance.

Congratulations to our boys who have made their country proud with such an impressive show," he said. "We have great hopes that they will claim the title to enhance the strong position which has been acquired by the UAE riders at the international levels."

The competition is being held under the patronage of Hydra Properties togethter with Abu Dhabi Sports Council, UAE Equestrian Federation, Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Abu Dhabi Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

The three-star competition has attracted a total of 50 riders from Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Holland, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria and France.
